Bosnia expands summer tourism at Bjelašnica and Prokoško lake

The Olympic centre on Bjelašnica mountain is adding new summer attractions aimed at making the area a year‑round destination. According to PR manager Lea Kalender, the Summer Vučko Park has been expanded with a tubing track, inflatable castle, pump‑track, bungee trampolines and electric cars for children, while a panorama lift and other facilities serve all ages. Renovation work on Sarajevo’s Zetra arena is also underway, with the venue expected to reopen in early September for fairs, concerts and sports events.

At Prokoško lake near Fojnica, situated at about 1,600 m altitude, camping tourism is booming. Visitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Germany and other European countries are staying in tents and camper‑van setups, attracted by the scenic setting and low prices. Local hosts are supplementing the experience with homemade food and weekend‑house rentals. Completion of an asphalt road from Fojnica to the lake is expected to improve access and further boost the local economy.
