Bosnia‑Herzegovina and Germany approve pension hikes for retirees
The government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina gave approval for an interim pension adjustment of 3.5% that will take effect on 1 July, with the increased payments scheduled for August. The uplift, estimated at about 23 KM for the lowest pension and roughly 30 KM on average, falls short of retirees' expectations of a 6% rise. A final adjustment may follow after August statistical data are released, potentially adding any shortfall to August payments.
Germany confirmed that from 1 July 2026 pensions will rise by 4.24%, adding about €77.85 gross per month to a standard pension. The value of a pension point will increase from €40.79 to €42.52. The reform also sets a gradual rise in the statutory retirement age to 67 by 2031 and adjusts the early‑retirement thresholds, aiming to align pension levels with wage growth while addressing demographic pressures.
