Bosnian associations condemn dismissal of Faruk Đozić
Several associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina have condemned the dismissal of Faruk Đozić, describing it as an act of political persecution. Đozić, a survivor who lost 27 family members in the genocide, was removed from his position following his public condemnation of convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić.
The associations, including the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves, argue that the decision is an attempt to institutionally silence Bosniaks in Srebrenica. They assert that condemning a war criminal should not be treated as an insult to any nation or a reason for job loss in public service.
Đozić has announced legal action against the Municipality of Srebrenica. In response, the signatory associations are calling on the legal community in Bosnia and Herzegovina to provide pro bono legal support to defend his rights to truth, freedom of expression, and dignity.
