Budućnost Voli unveils roster as ABA League faces referee dispute

Basketball club Budućnost Voli has officially presented its roster and coaching staff for the 2026/2027 season during the ‘Blue Night’ event in Podgorica. Led by coach Andrej Žakelj, the team includes returning players such as Jogi Ferel, Fletcher McGui, and others, alongside new additions like Ivison Molinar and Justin Smith. Club President Dragan Bokan stated that the goal is to reach the top of regional basketball and represent Montenegro and Podgorica with dignity in European competitions.

Separately, the ABA League is facing potential scheduling disruptions due to a dispute with referees regarding compensation. Referees have requested higher match fees, particularly for the final stages of the tournament. While the league has opened a call for new referees and proposed incremental increases for playoff matches, some officials remain dissatisfied with the terms. ABA League official Ostoja Mijailović noted that while the season should not be delayed, there is a possibility that the first round of games could be postponed if a resolution is not reached quickly.
