Bosnian school in Birmingham marks 32 years of cultural preservation
The Bosnian supplementary school at Bosanska kuća in Birmingham has commenced a new academic year, marking 32 years of continuous operation. The institution serves children from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and surrounding areas, aiming to preserve the Bosnian language, culture, and traditions for the diaspora.
The program includes Bosnian language instruction, religious education, and activities organized by the ‘Fahira Hasedžić’ Cultural and Artistic Society. Beyond formal lessons, the school offers weekend cultural, sporting, and recreational activities to foster community and talent development.
Organizers from the Bosnia UK Network emphasized the importance of allowing new generations to communicate with their families in their mother tongue and maintain a connection to their roots while building futures in the United Kingdom. The institution has expressed a desire for recognition and concrete support from Bosnian and Herzegovinian institutions to help enhance the quality of the teaching.
