Bosnia’s Blidinje and Igman host large July mountain festivals

The 27th Memorial Hikers' gathering "Ivica Plazonić" will be held from 17 to 19 July 2026 in Masna Luka, a protected area of Blidinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Organized by the Posušje HPD “Pločno” and the Kaštela HPD “Malačka”, the event brings together hundreds of hikers, nature lovers and guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and other countries. Activities include camp set‑up, guided hikes, a communal lunch, traditional sports competitions, a mass, and an evening campfire with live music.

On the same weekend, the fourth Brezovača Mountain Festival will take place at the Brezovača mountain lodge on Igman near Hadžići. The one‑day festival features a concert by the Bosnian band Helem Nejse, a DJ set by A‑Thorn, and family‑friendly attractions such as mascot shows, a magic act, an alpine climbing wall for children, a photo exhibition and sports games. The event is organized by the local Planinarsko sportsko društvo Brezovača, which also highlights recent expeditions of its members to Everest Base Camp and Toubkal.

Both gatherings showcase the region’s active outdoor culture, volunteer organization and cross‑border participation.
