Bosomtwe Assembly members petition for removal of District Chief Executive

Assembly members in Ghana’s Bosomtwe District have petitioned authorities for a vote of no confidence against District Chief Executive (DCE) Hamidu Abdallah. The petition, signed by 24 of the 35 elected members, cites allegations of poor leadership, misplaced priorities, and financial mismanagement.

Key grievances include the alleged commercialization of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment, with petitioners claiming machines are released to private individuals for cash rather than being used for community road maintenance. Additionally, members pointed to excessive administrative spending on printing and fuel despite budget provisions for laptops, and the unauthorized renovation of the DCE’s office at the expense of other projects like street lighting.

Other concerns involve the unfinished renovation of the Assembly’s conference centre, which has forced meetings to be held in external venues, and a failure to brief the Assembly on specific government road initiatives.
