Boston Bruins consider defensive roster moves amid internal competition

The Boston Bruins are reportedly considering roster moves on their defensive line as training camp approaches. Defenseman Mason Lohrei has been a recurring name in trade discussions, previously being included in a potential offer for Rasmus Andersson to the Calgary Flames.

Internal competition is expected to increase with the emergence of 23-year-old Frederic Brunet, who produced 36 points in 66 games for Providence last season. Brunet’s potential to secure a regular NHL role could push Lohrei or Henri Jokiharju out of the lineup.

Speculation has also surfaced regarding a hypothetical trade involving the St. Louis Blues, which could benefit from adding defensive depth. However, there are currently no official reports that the Blues have expressed interest in Lohrei.
