Boston Bruins manage prospect emergence and veteran health concerns

The Boston Bruins face several roster and health storylines as they prepare for the 2026-27 NHL season. 19-year-old prospect James Hagens is competing for a spot on the opening night roster following a strong performance at the Prospect Showcase, where he scored six goals. Bruins coach Marco Sturm expressed optimism regarding Hagens' development and hard work over the summer, while General Manager Don Sweeney noted that coaching staff will evaluate the young center's impact.

Separately, veteran forward Elias Lindholm is entering his third season with the team while managing questions regarding lingering back issues. Lindholm stated that he feels his body is ready for the upcoming season after a summer of recovery, though it remains uncertain if his previous injuries are fully resolved. Lindholm, who signed a seven-year contract in 2024, is expected to take on a different role within a reworked forward corps this year.
