Boston Bruins nearing extension with Marat Khusnutdinov

The Boston Bruins are reportedly close to reaching a multi-year contract extension with forward Marat Khusnutdinov. The 24-year-old Russian native is currently in the final year of a two-year deal that carries a $925,000 cap hit.

Khusnutdinov, who was acquired by Boston from the Minnesota Wild in a March 2025 trade deadline deal, has become a versatile asset for head coach Marco Sturm. He has demonstrated utility playing both center and wing, while also contributing significantly to the penalty kill.

Following a breakout previous season where he recorded 15 goals and 33 points, Khusnutdinov has maintained momentum this season, recording five points through his first nine games. His recent performance includes a game-winning goal in a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.
