Boston Bruins rookies drive early season success

The Boston Bruins are seeing significant contributions from their young talent during the early stages of the NHL season. Rookie James Hagens, selected seventh overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, is currently tied for the league lead in rookie scoring with nine points (four goals, five assists) through 12 games.

Head coach Marco Sturm has noted Hagens' transition to the professional game, observing that the 19-year-old is playing with a gritty, power-forward style by focusing on scoring in the crease. Hagens has also led all NHL forwards in blocked shots this season with 16.

Additionally, the Bruins' lineup features a highly effective line consisting of Marat Khusnutdinov, Fraser Minten, and JJ Peterka. This unit has demonstrated strong performance metrics, including a 5v5 expected goals-for share of 59.6%. Minten has recorded eight points in his first 11 games, contributing to the team's position at the top of the Atlantic Division.
