Boston Celtics sign center Mitchell Robinson to three‑year deal

The Boston Celtics have added interior size by signing former New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson to a three‑year contract worth $47.4 million, with a player option for the third season. Robinson, a key defensive piece of the Knicks' 2023 championship run, averaged 7.5 points, 8 rebounds and posted league‑high shot‑blocking numbers during his eight‑year tenure in New York.

In the same offseason the Celtics also secured a four‑year, $56 million extension for forward/center Neemias Queta. Queta posted career‑best averages of 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists last season and is expected to take on a larger scoring role with Jayson Tatum handling most playmaking duties. Together the two big men form a cost‑effective frontcourt partnership, with the pair’s combined salary of about $100 million projected to give Boston strong interior defense and rebounding while preserving salary‑cap flexibility for future moves.
