Boston College football faces No. 21 SMU seeking upset
Boston College football prepares to face No. 21 Southern Methodist University at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 3. The Eagles (2–2, 0–1 ACC) enter the matchup following a 21–14 loss to Virginia Tech.
Boston College’s offense has struggled this season, currently ranking as the lowest-scoring in the ACC with 19.8 points per game. Quarterback Mason McKenzie has become a focal point of the run game, ranking 12th nationally in rushing attempts and second among quarterbacks. However, the passing game has faced challenges, with the team ranking near the bottom of the conference in completion percentage and passing yards.
Southern Methodist (3–1, 1–1) is led by quarterback Kevin Jennings, who recently became the program's all-time leader in passing yards. Jennings ranks second in the nation in passing yards and fifth in passing touchdowns. SMU has won three of the last four meetings against Boston College, including a 45–13 victory last year.
