Boston Dynamics targets one-hour Atlas prototype production
Boston Dynamics has revealed significant advancements in the manufacturing efficiency of its Atlas humanoid robot. According to Katie Conner, Sr. Technical Program Manager, the company is working to drastically reduce the time required to build a prototype.
Currently, constructing an Atlas prototype takes approximately one day. The company aims to reduce this duration to about one hour within the coming year, with a long-term goal of shortening assembly to just a few minutes. These targets are strictly for the prototype development phase and do not represent projected mass production timelines.
In addition to manufacturing speed, the company continues to enhance the robot's capabilities, recently showcasing new four-finger hands for the platform. These developments are centered at the company's facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.
