Boston earns 4-star Certified Welcoming designation

The City of Boston has received a 4-star Certified Welcoming designation from Welcoming America. This recognition identifies the city as a leader in implementing policies and programs that support immigrant inclusion and belonging.

To earn the designation, Boston met criteria across seven specific areas of the Welcoming Standard: government and community leadership, equitable access, civic engagement, connected communities, education, economic development, and safe communities. The achievement builds upon the ongoing work of the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA) and its 'You Belong Here' initiative, a citywide campaign designed to empower residents and foster a sense of belonging.

Mayor Michelle Wu noted that the city has been shaped by generations of immigrants. Chief of Equity and Inclusion Mariangely Solis added that the designation reflects a commitment to creating a city where all residents can participate in civic, cultural, and economic life.
