Boston MedFlight orders three Airbus H145 helicopters
Boston MedFlight, a non-profit air medical transport organization, has signed an order for three Airbus Helicopters H145 aircraft. This agreement brings the organization’s total number of H145 units from the manufacturer to twelve.
The new helicopters are intended to replace older aircraft in the fleet and facilitate a modest expansion of operations. CEO Maura Hughes stated that the H145 is an ideal choice for missions across New England, citing its cabin space and flexibility for medical equipment.
Boston MedFlight currently operates six H145s and one EC 145, with each helicopter averaging over 600 flight hours annually. The organization reports that approximately 90 percent of its flights are inter-hospital transfers, while 10 percent are primary rescue missions.
