Boston Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet sidelined long-term, deepening season woes

Left‑hander Garrett Crochet will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a lat strain that forced the Boston Red Sox to move him to the 60‑day injured list. Crochet, who had previously been placed on the injured list for shoulder inflammation, said returning before the All‑Star break would be "really rushing" and that he must essentially restart his rehab.

The injury adds to an already injury‑riddled campaign for the Red Sox, who sit 12.5 games behind in the AL East. With the trade deadline approaching and other pitchers such as Brayan Bello struggling, the loss of Crochet—a former Cy Young Award winner—further weakens the rotation and hampers the team's postseason hopes.
