Boston Red Sox activate Roman Anthony and Trevor Story
The Boston Red Sox have activated outfielder Roman Anthony and shortstop Trevor Story from the 60-day injured list. The moves occurred ahead of the series finale against the New York Yankees as the team continues its playoff race.
Roman Anthony, 22, returns after missing 100 games due to a sprained right wrist injury sustained in May. Trevor Story, 33, returns after missing 92 games due to a sports hernia. Anthony appeared in the leadoff spot as a designated hitter, while Story started at shortstop.
To accommodate the returns, the Red Sox optioned catcher/designated hitter Mickey Gasper and infielder Anthony Seigler to Triple-A Worcester. The activations provide a significant boost to the roster during a period where the team has been searching for consistent form.
