Boston Red Sox defeat Yankees three straight games

The Boston Red Sox have won three consecutive games against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. On June 26 the Red Sox beat the Yankees 6‑1 as rookie left‑hander Payton Tolle carried a perfect game into the sixth inning and surrendered only one hit over seven scoreless innings. Willson Contreras homered over the Green Monster and Masataka Yoshida opened the scoring with a leadoff home run. The following day Jake Bennett delivered a career‑best start, pitching 6⅓ innings, allowing one run on three hits, and becoming the first Red Sox pitcher to work into the seventh inning of a start. He held New York to a single run as Boston won 4‑1. In the third game of the series, also 4‑1, Bennett again limited the Yankees while Anthony Seigler hit his first major‑league home run, a solo shot against Gerrit Cole, who struggled early. The Red Sox combined early offense, solid pitching and timely defense to build leads that the Yankees could not overcome. New York’s offense has been stifled, managing just three hits in the latest loss and committing multiple errors, while the team slips in the AL East race, seeing its lead over the Tampa Bay Rays shrink. A benches‑clearing incident involving Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran and a fan added drama, but the team’s on‑field performance continued to dominate the series.
