Boston schedules September town halls for $135 million Blue Hill Avenue redesign

The City of Boston and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) announced a series of community meetings in September to present an updated design for the Blue Hill Avenue Transportation Action Plan, a $135 million project that will reconstruct a three‑mile corridor from Mattapan Square to Grove Hall.

The meetings, beginning with a town hall at Morning Star Baptist Church on Sept 10 and followed by three additional sessions in Dorchester and Mattapan, will let residents review block‑by‑block changes, including new center‑running bus lanes, street lighting, trees, green space, safer crossings and support for small businesses. Mayor Michelle Wu, interim Chief of Streets Chris Osgood and MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng said the bus lanes could cut Route 28 travel time by 10‑15 minutes and emphasized the need for public input.
