Boston Scientific restores operations after cybersecurity disruption

Boston Scientific has resumed manufacturing, shipping, and order fulfillment operations following a cybersecurity disruption that began on August 25. The company reported that products are now moving through its distribution network at or above normal levels as staff work to clear backlogs. Additionally, remote monitoring activations for cardiac device implant communicators and ICM remote monitoring have been restored.

Independent assessments conducted by CrowdStrike and other third-party forensic specialists found no evidence of ongoing threat activity or compromise to the company’s product technologies, software systems, or cloud-based platforms. While technical operations have stabilized, the company warned investors in an 8K filing that the incident is likely to have a material impact on its third-quarter and full-year financial results, making it unlikely to meet previous sales and adjusted profit forecasts.
