Botafogo and Grêmio are set to face each other on Wednesday, September 16, at the Nilton Santos Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The match is a delayed fixture from the 21st round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Both clubs are currently facing pressure in the lower half of the league table. Botafogo sits in 14th place with 32 points after 26 matches, while Grêmio is in 16th place with 28 points. Botafogo enters the match following a six-game winless streak, most recently drawing 1-1 against Red Bull Bragantino. Grêmio is coming off a 2-1 loss to Vasco and has recently announced Renato Gaúcho for a new stint with the club.

Grêmio has resumed training at the Luiz Carvalho Training Center in Porto Alegre under the direction of technical coordinator Luiz Felipe Scolari. The squad is scheduled to travel to Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday afternoon to prepare for the encounter.
