Botafogo evaluates coach dismissal amid match controversies

Botafogo management is currently evaluating the dismissal of head coach Franclim Carvalho following a 6-1 loss to Cienciano in the Copa Sudamericana. Decision-makers, including Eduardo Iglesias, João Paulo, and Gabriel de Alba, are discussing the coach's future, with a final resolution expected once Gabriel de Alba arrives in Rio de Janeiro.

If Carvalho is dismissed, Bellão is expected to take over as interim manager, potentially leading the team for the upcoming match against Cienciano.

In a separate development during a recent Brasileirão match against EC Vitória, Botafogo player Arthur Cabral received a red card after a confrontation with Vitória coach Jair Ventura. The incident involved the first application of the ‘Vini Jr Protocol’ in the Brazilian top flight, which mandates a red card for players who intentionally cover their mouths during arguments. Ventura has denied any intent to disrespect his former club, Botafogo, where he spent ten years of his career.
