Botafogo nears signing of Uruguayan midfielder Mateo Peralta
Botafogo is nearing a deal to sign Mateo Peralta, a 20-year-old midfielder from the Uruguayan club Danubio. The player is expected to sign a contract for five seasons, with Danubio potentially retaining a share of his economic rights.
Danubio president Tabaré Ferro described the move as a residual sale, noting that because Peralta’s current contract runs until March 2027, the transfer may involve a pre-contract arrangement. This follows previous interest in the player, including a rejected offer from Denmark’s Viborg FF.
Peralta, who has experience with Uruguay’s youth national teams, has been noted for his scoring ability and performance in recent matches.
Separately, Botafogo is preparing for its upcoming Brazilian Championship match against Chapecoense at the Nilton Santos Stadium. Coach Tite has called for strong fan support to boost player confidence ahead of the fixture.
