Hakim Ziyech leaves Wydad Casablanca to join Botafogo

Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech has reached an agreement to terminate his contract with Wydad Casablanca by mutual consent. The decision follows a period of tension between the 33-year-old player and the club's leadership, including president Ibrahim El Asri, involving disputes over financial terms and training access.

Following his departure from Wydad, Ziyech is expected to join the Brazilian club Botafogo. While negotiations initially faced delays due to the player's concerns regarding the quality of Brazilian pitches—a concern raised during discussions with compatriot Zakaria Labyad—reports indicate that an agreement is nearing completion. Botafogo is reportedly offering a contract for approximately two seasons to bolster its squad, which currently sits in 13th place in the Brazilian league.

Ziyech, a former Ajax and Chelsea player, becomes a free agent following the termination, allowing him to finalize the move to Rio de Janeiro without a transfer fee.
