Botafogo-PB elects new president amid SAF sale negotiations
José Afonso Guedes Pereira has been elected executive president of Botafogo-PB for the 2026–2028 biennium. The election, held by the club's Deliberative Council in João Pessoa, also appointed Robson José da Fonseca Pinto as vice-president and established the new Fiscal Council.
The administrative transition occurs during a period of significant structural change for the club. Botafogo is currently navigating the sale of its Football Corporation (SAF). Following the expiration of a priority purchase deadline by Eagle Bidco, the club is positioned to finalize an agreement with GDA Luma, led by businessman Gabriel de Alba.
This capital increase maneuver allows the social club to acquire a dominant stake in the SAF, effectively diluting the previous group's participation. Gabriel de Alba already manages the football department, having provided approximately $50 million in loans to cover debts and salaries, which will be offset against the total purchase price.
