Botafogo suspends goalkeeper Bruninho Samudio for disciplinary reasons

Bruninho Samudio, a 16-year-old goalkeeper and rising prospect for Botafogo, has been suspended from the club’s under-17 team due to disciplinary issues. The suspension resulted in his absence from two consecutive matches, including a major derby against Flamengo in the Brazilian Championship.

While Botafogo has not officially detailed the specific conduct that led to the decision, the athlete’s maternal grandmother, Sonia Moura, described the situation as a common disagreement between adolescents and authority figures within a competitive environment. Bruninho, who signed his first professional contract with the club in February 2026, is considered a high-potential talent and has previously represented the Brazilian U-15 national team.

The young athlete is the son of Eliza Samudio and former goalkeeper Bruno Fernandes. Beyond his football career, the family has been involved in legal matters regarding child support and image rights. Despite the current disciplinary setback, Botafogo maintains his professional contract and continues its development project for the player.
