Botanikos: Two arrested after police chase over illegal waste dumping

Two individuals, a 37-year-old man and a 17-year-old, were arrested in the Botanikos area following a police chase triggered by illegal waste disposal. Officers from the Waste Disposal Deterrence Team of the Attica General Police Directorate observed the suspects using a truck to dump construction waste, old furniture, and wood onto a plot of land.

Upon being signaled to stop, the suspects attempted to flee. During the pursuit, the 37-year-old driver engaged in dangerous driving, repeatedly ignoring stop signs and driving against the flow of traffic on a one-way street. The 17-year-old remained in the truck's cargo bed throughout the chase, facing immediate physical danger.

The pursuit ended on Konstantinoupolis Street, where police successfully immobilized the vehicle. The truck was seized, and the driver was issued an administrative fine of 1,340 euros. The suspects face charges including environmental law violations, disobedience, exposure to danger, and dangerous driving.
