Botev Plovdiv condemns racist abuse as club secures UEFA licence

During the Bulgarian league match between Cherno More and Botev Plovdiv, players were subjected to racist chants from a section of the home crowd. Defender Anton Konté reported the abuse, left the pitch and was shown a yellow card for his departure. Botev Plovdiv issued a strong statement denouncing the incident, urging the Bulgarian Football Union to take immediate action and warning that the club will inform FIFA and UEFA.

Later the same day the club’s financial patron Iliyan Filippov celebrated Botev Plovdiv receiving a UEFA licence from the licensing commission. "We fulfilled the promise for this season," Filippov wrote on Facebook, noting the club’s top‑eight finish and its eligibility for European competition while outlining plans to build a stronger squad for the next campaign.
