Botoșani firefighter joins Romanian national team for European firefighting championship

Andrei Baltag, a firefighter from Botoșani, has been selected for the Romanian national team representing the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) at the European Championship in Firefighting Sport. The competition is being held in Ostrava, Czech Republic, from August 17 to August 23, 2026.

Baltag, a national champion in the 100-meter obstacle course, will compete alongside captain Adrian Loluță, who also hails from Botoșani and serves as the national team leader. The Romanian delegation consists of 13 rescuers from various emergency inspectorates across the country. The athletes will compete in four disciplines: window ladder, 100-meter obstacle course, 4x100 meter relay, and motor pump device setup. The event, organized under the International Association of Fire and Rescue Services (CTIF), brings together teams from 11 countries to foster international cooperation and professional exchange.
