Botoșani introduces anonymous reporting for road safety hazards

The Prefect of Botoșani, Raluca Curelariu, has introduced an online mechanism allowing citizens to anonymously report road safety issues. The initiative aims to identify hazards such as missing or damaged road signs, poor road markings, obscured visibility due to vegetation, insufficient lighting, and deteriorated road surfaces.

This measure follows a rise in traffic accidents in the region. In the first seven months of 2026, Botoșani recorded 294 accidents with victims and six deaths, compared to 238 accidents and nine deaths during the same period in 2025. The Prefect stated that the goal is to use local knowledge to prevent accidents before they occur, noting that citizens often observe daily road issues that may not immediately reach authorities.
