Botoșani's Sfântul Ilie Church installs new parish priest

A ceremony was held at the Sfântul Ilie Church in Botoșani to mark the transition of leadership following the conclusion of Father Lucian Leonte’s 36-year tenure as parish priest. Leonte, a Doctor of Theology who has served the parish since 1990, was honored for his contributions to the community, including the construction of a social house, a parish house, and a summer altar.

Father Liviu Botezatu has been appointed as the new parish priest. Botezatu, a former religious education inspector, will also assume leadership of the Botoșani East Protopopiat starting September 1. The Sfântul Ilie Church is recognized as a historical monument and a symbol of the city of Botoșani.
