Botswana companies report financial recovery and growth

The Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) has returned to profitability following an aggressive one-year turnaround programme. For the financial year ending June 30, 2026, the state investment company recorded a profit before tax of P14 million, representing a P191 million swing from the P171 million loss reported in the previous year. The recovery was driven by an 11 percent increase in total income to P485 million, tighter cost controls, and a significant rise in dividend income to P239 million. Additionally, an asset recycling programme released P614 million for debt servicing and new investments.

In the property sector, Letlole La Rona Limited reported growth despite economic pressures in Botswana. For the year ending June 30, the Gaborone-based group saw revenue rise 7 percent to 215.2 million pula and operating profit increase 8 percent to 128.4 million pula. The company maintained a 97 percent occupancy rate and a 97 percent rental collection rate. While profit before tax decreased to 62.9 million pula due to non-cash fair value losses and higher finance costs, the company reported an improved cost-to-income ratio of 36 percent.
