Botswana diaspora organization seeks to drive national development
The Botswana Association in the United States of America (BAUSA) is working to mobilize the expertise and resources of the diaspora to support development in Botswana. The organization aims to leverage professional skills, investment, and international connections to advance sectors such as tourism promotion, community infrastructure, and cultural preservation.
Registered in the US in 2015, BAUSA is currently exploring ways to formalize its operations within Botswana to strengthen engagement with government institutions, businesses, and local communities. Spokesperson Mimmy Polan stated that the organization, which has approximately 500 members, intends to move beyond charitable donations to focus on investment facilitation, economic development, and diaspora advocacy.
