Botswana football rivalry intensifies ahead of Chiefs and Rollers match

Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Township Rollers are set to face each other this Saturday at the National Stadium in Gaborone for the Royal Encounter. The match marks a continuation of one of Botswana’s most significant football rivalries. In recent league history, Chiefs have held an advantage, remaining unbeaten in their last four meetings against the Rollers.

However, tensions have escalated off the pitch. Township Rollers has filed a formal complaint with the Botswana Football League (BFL) following an alleged incident of aerial surveillance. The club accuses Mochudi Centre Chiefs of flying an unauthorized drone over a closed Rollers training session at the Lekidi Football Centre.

Rollers claims the drone hovered over their camp during tactical rehearsals, potentially compromising their preparations. The club has requested an urgent investigation by the BFL, seeking sanctions for unsportsmanlike conduct and a ban on the use of any footage captured by the device.
