Botswana PAC considers summoning Finance Ministry official over Moti deal

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Botswana is considering summoning Tshokologo Alex Kganetsano, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, to explain the revival of an investment proposal by businessman Zunaid Moti.

The proposal, which involves the construction of schools and clinics, had previously been rejected by the ministry on the grounds that it was too costly. The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) has called for an urgent investigation to determine why the deal was reinstated and who authorized the reversal of the initial decision.

PAC chairman Taolo Lucas stated that the committee will deliberate on the matter during its next meeting and may convene an urgent sitting to seek explanations from Kganetsano.
