Botswana targets diamond markets and creative economy growth
Botswana is pursuing economic diversification and market strengthening through international engagement. During the United Nations General Assembly in New York, a delegation led by President Duma Boko and Minister of Minerals and Energy Bogolo Kenewendo is working to promote the natural diamond industry. The government aims to secure market access, attract investment across the diamond value chain, and reinforce the importance of natural diamonds amidst changing consumer preferences and technological competition.
Parallel to mineral-based economic efforts, Botswana is looking toward its creative economy as a renewable industry. At Africa Fashion Week London, representatives highlighted the potential of combining heritage with digital innovation, such as artificial intelligence in design and marketing, to build high-value industries for the country’s future.
