Bottles updates Linux Windows-compatibility tools and fixes critical bugs
The open-source Linux tool Bottles has released significant updates aimed at improving the experience of running Windows applications and games. Recent developments include version 65, which introduced enhanced Steam integration, improved HDR reliability, and support for D7VK for Direct3D-7 games. It also added LSFG-VK for frame generation in compatible Vulkan titles and an individual FPS limiter for different bottles.
Following the major v66.0 release, an emergency patch (version 66.1) was issued by lead developer Mirko Brombin to address critical regressions. The patch fixed issues where games failed to launch within Flatpak sandboxes due to incorrect path resolution and resolved crashes involving the new UMU prefix picker. These updates represent a continued effort to refine the software as a primary interface for Wine on Linux.
