Bottrop forest discovery: 17 abandoned tortoises rescued

Seventeen Greek tortoises were discovered abandoned along a forest path near Alten Postweg in Bottrop, Germany. Animal welfare advocates believe the abandonment was a deliberate act rather than a random occurrence, suggesting the animals were previously kept as pets.

The tortoises have been moved to a rescue station in Dorsten for care. The group ‘Tierfreunde Bottrop’ is currently seeking witnesses or information regarding the origin of the animals and the identity of those responsible for abandoning them. Information can be provided to the local animal shelter or the regulatory office, with the option to remain anonymous.
