Botucatu and Ponta Porã pursue traffic safety measures

In Botucatu, councilors Nuno Garcia (Podemos), Welinton Japa (MDB), Thiago Padovan (PSD) and Zé Fernandes (PSDB) submitted a request to the municipal chamber for a public hearing on urban mobility and traffic in the city centre. They argue that the concentration of public offices, banks, schools and commerce creates congestion, especially during peak hours, and call for participation from the mayor’s office, traffic officials, school directors and local merchants.

In Ponta Porã, councilor Waldecir Fernandes presented two proposals to the mayor Eduardo Campos and relevant secretaries. One seeks the construction of a raised crosswalk in front of the CAPS Infantil on Avenida São João to protect patients, families and staff. The other requests a speed‑reduction device on Rua Guarujá in the Jardim Coimbra neighbourhood to address residents' concerns about speeding and improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
