Botucatu and Santo Antônio do Sudoeste hold 12th Municipal Health Conferences

Municipal health conferences were held in the Brazilian towns of Botucatu and Santo Antônio do Sudoeste. In Botucatu, more than 200 participants—including SUS users, health workers, managers, students and civil‑society representatives—debated four thematic axes, approved one proposal per axis and elected eight delegates to represent the municipality at the next macro‑regional, state and national meetings. The Santo Antônio do Sudoeste conference gathered residents, health professionals and local leaders to discuss public‑health demands, evaluate services and submit proposals for improving the municipality’s health system. Both events are part of Brazil’s Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) conference process, intended to incorporate community input into health‑policy planning at higher levels.

The proposals approved in Botucatu will be compiled into a final report for the macro‑regional conference, while the Santo Antônio do Sudoeste contributions will inform municipal health‑service planning. Organizers emphasized the importance of dialogue between the population, professionals and public authorities in shaping health priorities.
