Brazil police seize drugs, weapons and contraband in coordinated raids

Police forces across several Brazilian states carried out a series of operations targeting drug trafficking, organized crime and illegal contraband. In Foz do Iguaçu, the Navy’s Operation Ágata seized more than six tonnes of cocaine, marijuana, haxixe and skunk, along with electronics and vehicles worth over 30 million reais. In Sorriso, the Military Police arrested four members of a criminal faction and confiscated a 9 mm pistol, a .38 revolver and ammunition.

Other raids resulted in the arrest of drug traffickers and the seizure of narcotics in multiple municipalities: a couple in Garça was caught with cocaine, marijuana and cash; a drug‑selling cell in Toledo yielded crack, marijuana, haxixe and money; a laboratory in Belo Horizonte was found with over a thousand coca‑pino units and processing equipment; and a couple in Alta Floresta were detained with large quantities of cocaine and ecstasy. The Federal Police’s joint operation on the BR‑163 highway intercepted a truck carrying 885 illegally imported mobile phones. Additional actions in Bahia, Mato Grosso, Paraná and other locations recovered firearms, controlled medicines and further drug parcels.
