Botucatu woman arrested for child abandonment and assault

A 45-year-old woman was arrested in Botucatu after her 12-year-old daughter reported being left alone in their apartment and subsequently physically assaulted by her mother upon the woman's return from a dance hall.

Municipal guards intervened after hearing screams and sounds of physical aggression coming from the residence. The woman, who appeared to have consumed alcohol, initially resisted opening the door. The victim reported being hit, specifically on her arm, though no visible injuries were immediately noted. Following the incident, the Guardianship Council placed the teenager in a transitional shelter for protection, and the mother was taken into police custody on charges of abandonment of an incapable person, domestic violence, and assault.
