Boubacar Camara declines to side with Diomaye or Sonko

Boubacar Camara, the Minister of Higher Education and leader of the Tabax (Construire) party, has declined to take sides in the political tension between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and National Assembly President Ousmane Sonko.

Speaking during the ‘Yendou Tabax’ mobilization meeting held at Magic Land, Camara emphasized that political divergences between the two leaders are secondary. He advocated for a reconciliation between Faye and Sonko, stating that such a rapprochement would be beneficial for Senegal.

Camara previously praised Sonko’s performance as Prime Minister, noting his own experience working alongside him as Secretary General of the Government. While acknowledging the President's prerogative to choose his political partners, Camara’s refusal to align with either the President’s Kiiraay movement or Sonko’s Pastef party serves as a strategic positioning for the Tabax party ahead of upcoming local elections.
