Bouches-du-Rhône Department honored for women's health initiatives

The Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Council has been awarded the ‘Trophée Turquoise’ in Paris for its commitment to women's health. Martine Vassal, president of the council, received the distinction at the headquarters of the Association des maires de France.

The award recognizes the local authority's efforts in raising awareness, prevention, and support for pelvic gynecological cancers, including cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. These initiatives are part of the ‘Septembre Turquoise’ national campaign led by the patient association IMAGYN.

To support these efforts, the department utilizes maternal and child protection centers, 23 family planning and education centers, and CeGIDD centers to provide information, vaccination, and screening guidance. Notable actions include a mobile medical unit known as the ‘Bus Gynéco’ and free cervical cancer screening days for women aged 25 to 65.
