AFC Bournemouth beat Sunderland 2-0 to secure first Premier League win

AFC Bournemouth secured their first Premier League victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Sunderland at the Vitality Stadium. Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a header following an assist from Evanilson. The match shifted significantly in the 17th minute when Sunderland defender Kevin Danso received a straight red card for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity by fouling Evanilson.

Bournemouth dominated much of the contest, recording 29 shots compared to Sunderland’s three. Evanilson sealed the win in the 48th minute by intercepting an underhit back pass from Omar Alderete, rounding goalkeeper Robin Roefs to score his 100th career goal. Despite several saves from Roefs, Sunderland was unable to mount a comeback.

The victory lifts Bournemouth out of the relegation zone. Conversely, the defeat leaves Sunderland in a difficult position, marking their fourth consecutive Premier League loss and dropping them to second from the bottom of the table. The match also saw a new club attendance record of 12,004 at the Vitality Stadium following recent stadium expansions.
