Boursa Kuwait advances capital market reforms and literacy initiatives
Boursa Kuwait is advancing capital market reforms through the introduction of new investment products, upgraded trading systems, and enhanced investor education. These efforts have contributed to the country's transition from a frontier market to an emerging market status, with upgrades from major index providers including FTSE Russell, S&P Dow Jones Indices, and MSCI.
In recognition of these developments, Boursa Kuwait received three awards at The European’s Global Business Awards 2026: Best Exchange of the Year – Middle East, Best Exchange for ESG, and Best Exchange for Financial Literacy. The exchange reported significant growth in 2025, with total traded value rising 79.3 per cent to KD26.58 billion and market capitalization increasing by 22.1 per cent to KD53.19 billion.
To further support market transparency, the Kuwait Stock Exchange has launched the third edition of its ‘Al-Jaras’ (The Bell) financial literacy initiative. Running throughout October, the program is a collaborative effort involving academic, professional, and investment entities such as the CFA Institute and Kuwait University. The initiative aims to make investment concepts more accessible to the public, including students and young professionals, through workshops and digital content.
