Boursa Kuwait indices decline amid market volatility
Boursa Kuwait experienced a significant downturn, with the general index dropping approximately 57.67 points (0.68%) to reach 8,475.93 points. The main market index fell by 1.04%, while the 'Main 50' index saw a sharper decline of 2.10%.
Trading volume reached approximately 315 million shares with a total value of 83.6 million Kuwaiti dinars. Despite the market loss of 733.5 million dinars in market capitalization, investment sources suggest that upcoming third-quarter banking sector earnings may act as a stabilizer, as the banking sector is historically considered the most resilient component of the Kuwaiti market.
Analysts note that the decline occurred despite no new geopolitical developments, suggesting the movement was driven by internal selling pressure. While the market faces volatility, long-term economic indicators remain supported by ongoing corporate developments, government efforts to modernize economic laws, and projections from the International Monetary Fund suggesting improved growth by 2027.
