Bouygues Telecom adds free TV channels as French operators push fibre‑only internet offers

On 2 June, Bouygues Telecom expanded its TV service by adding eleven new free channels to the Bbox decoder. The channels include eight from the RMC/BFM group—covering football, news, documentaries and thematic content—and three Pluto TV channels: Blue Bloods, Detective Conan and One Piece. Access is provided at no extra cost to Bbox users.

At the same time, French telecom operators are promoting internet‑only fibre packages. Orange's Sosh Boost Fibre offers a streamlined broadband plan without TV. Bouygues Telecom's B&YOU Pure Fibre is available in two tiers—Pure Fibre (up to 2 Gb/s, €24.99/month) and Pure Fibre Plus (up to 8 Gb/s, €26.99/month)—both featuring Wi‑Fi 7. Free's Freebox Pop S, priced at €24.99/month, delivers up to 5 Gb/s and Wi‑Fi 7. These offers target users who primarily stream content, use smart TVs, game consoles, or work from home, reflecting a shift away from traditional linear TV packages.

Both moves illustrate a broader trend in France toward leaner, high‑speed internet services and expanded free‑to‑air TV options, catering to evolving consumer habits.
