Bova Marina Community Hospital opens in Calabria

The Community Hospital of Bova Marina has officially opened in the former Seminary of contrada Spina Santa. This new facility is part of a territorial healthcare network supported by the PNRR and DM 77, designed to provide intermediate care for patients who no longer require standard hospital hospitalization but are not yet ready to return home.

Regional Councilor Daniela Iiriti noted that the facility is a significant achievement for the Grecanica Area, aiming to bridge the gap in services for territories that have historically suffered from healthcare shortages. The project was implemented through cooperation between the Calabria Region and the Asp of Reggio Calabria.

However, officials emphasized that the success of this new network depends on addressing critical staffing shortages. For the infrastructure to function effectively, there must be strategic planning to ensure an adequate number of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals are assigned to the new facilities.
